Q.: What does LOGOS mean?
A.: Greek for Word. The New Testament was written in Greek. Jesus is
also called the Word or Logos. "In the beginning was the
Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God" (John 1:1).
The amount you love God is reflected in the amount you love the Bible.
The old saying, the Bible keeps you from sin, but sin keeps you from the
Bible, is still true today. We seem to have time and interest in
studying everything else, but how few are the moments we spend with God
and His Word! Appetite must be awakened and cultivated. The more
you study it and learn from it, the better it tastes.
Come and taste and see that the Lord is good, is the Bible's
invitation! Jesus is so gentle with us, read what it says in Isaiah
42:3 "A bruised reed shall He not break". We all have
been
bruised by sin.
In the Revelation of Jesus, the last book of the Bible, there is in
chapter 10 something that also tasted so sweet in the mouth, but turned
sour in the tummy. What was it? A little book! I believe it to be
the little prophetic book of Daniel that all eleven verses speak of.
Why? Because both books are prophetic and deal with the same subjects --
the Beasts, horns, kingdoms and eschatology, the dates and doctrines of
last day events.
Jesus as the Messiah the Prince in Daniel, and in Revelation the One and
Only worthy to open the seven seals. Without His victory over sin, we
would be left to die eternally. Today He is the Author and finisher of
our faith and I am so glad that He never changes, He is the same
yesterday, today and forever.

Does this verse say something significant about God's perfect will for
our lives? Psalms 118:8 (NKJV) " It is
better to trust in the lord than to put confidence in man"
Jesus is the centre of the Bible
Jesus, the word or logos, is our great Shepherd who really knows
how to care for His sheep. He did so in the old
and does so in the new testament:
"The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not
want. He makes me lie down in green pasture; He leads me beside
calm waters. He restores my soul; He leads me into the path of
righteousness.
Yes, when I walk through the valley of the
shadow of death, I will fear no evil: because You are with me; Your rod
and Your staff (protection) comfort me.
You have prepared a table for me in the
presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil ; my cup runs over.
Surely, goodness and mercy shall follow me
all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord (the
Church) for ever.---Psalms 23
Bible Translations
Why did Jesus speak Aramaic? There is an ancient Jewish
Translation of the Bible into Aramaic called the Targum. Notice
how closely it relates to the 'Logos' or the 'Word of the Lord'.
The Bible says, "God created man" (Genesis 1:17). The
Targum translates it: "And the Word of the Lord created
man". Our Bibles say,: "And it repented the Lord that He
made man on the earth". The Targum translates it: "And
it repented the Lord that through His Word he made man on the
earth".
The Bible says, "Abraham believed in the Lord". The
Targum: "Abraham believed in the Word of the Lord."
Look up Genesis 15:1 and substitute the "word of the Lord"
with the name of "Jesus". After these things Jesus came
unto Abraham in a vision, saying, fear not, Abraham: I AM your shield,
and your exceeding great reward. This would make perfect
theological sense.
God is so powerful and almighty that He can speak the World and
nature into existence. We today discovered a new technology called
voice recognition. Machinery will do what we say. Jesus
talked to nature and the wild storms ceased, He called and Lazarus came
back to life again. Miracles after Miracles. "And God
said, let there be light (Gen.1) and Christian Evolutionists cannot see
the light shining today from the Gospels of Jesus.
Have you ever been perplexed by the great number of English Bible
translations? The Bible is God's chosen medium of communicating
with man. "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God and
is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction
in righteousness.
Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. (Romans
10:17). God is not the Author of confusion (1.Cor.14:33), but He
is the Author and Finisher of our faith. (Hebr.12:2). Even
during the Dark Ages when the Bible was outlawed and persecuted by the
Church of Rome, it was not lost. The two
faithful witnesses were
in
sackcloth (mourning) see Rev.11:3 for the full period of 1260 days or
1260 prophetic years of papal supremacy. And it probably will be
outlawed again soon to make an image to the Beast.
Dr. Martin Luther translated the Bible into the German
language and gave it to the ordinary people, and what happened?
Two thirds of Europe broke loose from Rome. The Roman Catholic
'Dublin Review' made this startling claim: "The 'Bible-only'
principle is proved false. It is now at length too evident that
Scripture is powerless without the [Catholic] Church as the witness to
its inspiration, the safeguard of its integrity, and the exponent of its
meaning. And it will now be clear to all men which is the true
church, the real Mother to whom the Bible of rights belongs.---"The
revision of the New Testament, Dublin review,VI,p.144,
July-october,1881.
"Heaven and earth will pass away, but My Words shall not
pass away." [Matth.24:35].The text of the Old Testament has
been essentially settled since the discovery of the Dead Sea
Scrolls! But the New Testament text, however, has been the cause
of much heated debate. For the past 100 years there has been a
rivalry between two Greek texts--the Received Text and the Critical
Text.
Without going into many details, the Received Text, or Textus
Receptus, belongs to Protestantism. However, Protestantism can
only survive as long as it rests on the Bible alone. Memorizing
God's holy Word has become increasingly difficult through the many new
and modern translations. Not that it changes the content, except
for the paraphrased version which are peppered with the authors personal
beliefs.
With the Critical text, critical scholars were trying to discredit
the Bible and insisted on including the catholic versions of Vaticanus
and Sanaiticus. The latter supposed to have been found in a
rubbish bin at Mt. Sinai. To understand, we must go back in
history about 100 years.
The last half of the nineteenth century brought many changes to the
world. While great truths such as the Sabbath and the 3 Angels'
Messages were being proclaimed, grievous errors such as 'Spiritualism'
'Evolution', and 'Marxism' were on the rise trying to dethrone God as
Creator of the Universe. the Sabbath of course, is Christ's sign
as Creator.
Christianity as a whole rejected the Lord Jesus Christ and His Sabbath
day of worship as being Jewish and belonging to the Old Testament
alone. Verses such as Mark 2:28 and Matthew 12:8 are being
purposely ignored and opposed. you are either in love with the
sinless Christ or sin, but you cannot love both.
God committed the assembling of His divinely inspired Word to finite
men. This Word arranged into books (biblos), the Old and New
Testaments, is the guide book to the inhabitants of a fallen world,
given to them, so that by studying and obeying the directions, not one
soul would lose its way to heaven. Instead of higher criticism,
men should let God take care of His own book.
